Office365: Remote move request fails
A corrupted item was encountered: Folder rule “Inbox”
During the migration of a customer’s mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Office 365 we’ve had a couple of remote move requests fail with the error message: A corrupted item was encountered: Folder rule ‘Inbox’
Investigating the mailboxes we found that all contained a forward or redirect mailbox rule to a large amount of recipients.
In Office 365 the ForwardeeLimit in the default throttling policy is set to 10. It’s not possible to change this default and Microsoft recommends forwarding to Distribution Groups when you need to target more than 10 recipients.
After disabling the rule or changing it to a distribution group the move requests completed succesfully.
